I've heard of The Rat Patrol here and there, mostly since I started watching HH again, but I've never watched it; and I did know Tales of the Gold Monkey, because I knew that was what Tale Spin was based on and my fiancé used to watch the series (in France it was known as "Jake Cutter") and have a lot of fun. I tracked the pilot (sorry for the pun :P) on YouTube and indeed, it was a fun show! I did have some trouble understand every word they said, though. Usually I can make do without subtitles, but not this time.
