Thank you!! I hoped you would like them, and I'm very glad you did :o)
You know, it's been years since I read that comic (I don't even remember if I have it saved on my computer somewhere), but I can't use "so to speak" without thinking of Piper and Trickster. I think it's the first time I saw that expression being used, understood and and remembered it later (like "the greater good" in Hot Fuzz), so I immediately associate expression and comics in my mind. One of the quirks of speaking English as a second language :o]
As for that... Well, it's always worth reminding people who believe in that stupid stereotype that France was the only country besides the USA, UK and USSR to occupy post-WW2 Germany. It's not something I'm particularly proud of as a Frenchwoman, but it does make a point. Also, from Wikipedia, "According to the British historian Niall Ferguson, France has participated in 168 major European wars since 387 BCE, out of which it won 109, drawn 10 and lost 49, making the country the most sucessful military power in European history." Yet one of the most infuriatingly enduring stereotype about France is that we hardly won any wars and surrender easily. How's that for irony...
