PACS is a great thing, because it enables opposite-sex and same-sex couples to have many of the same legal rights and duties before the law as a married couple. But it lacks greatly in gravitas and ceremony - you just get a stamp on a document in a little office in what you can liken to country court. A couple of my friends got PACSed two years ago, and they threw a party with families and friends, it was great :o) Then again, it was like a wedding, since they're both guys and it doesn't look like the law's gonna change soon here about gay marriage. François and I are keeping it really closely-knit, but when we do get married we'll party too :o)
