Watercolours galore!

My mum had given me a box of watercolour pencils for my birthday last year, and till now I can't say I've used them a lot - but I suddenly got "inspired" and tried my hand at doodling a bit and afterwards run a wet brush over them.
...They aren't too shabby, I guess, but I'm not really there yet :P
First try, with an anonymous lady I jotted down in a few minutes.

I kinda like this one. Blue's one of my favourite colours anyway, but for a 5-minutes doodle it didn't turn out so bad. Which is more than I can say for this one...

Yep, DCAU!Piper! Without his hat - sorry, love, I forgot once I started colouring. Anyway. The top one's the pencil, and the bottom one was scanned after I ran a wet brush on everything. Not really completely happy with that one. Plus the paper was too thin. So I grabbed a thick Canson sheet and did this.

Comics!James and Wally - without reference, and poor James' eyes suffered to be this close to his mask. And I need to work on reds :P But I love the colours those pencils get when wet. And I love to add little shades to faces with just a smidgen of colour and a lot of water :o)
Since I still had some time before dinner, I continued with this (right click and "display image"):

Some anonymous characters, each with a different central colour (although they've all got different shades of that colour, except for the black and white kid, where I only used black pencil). Still doodling around for fun and practice. The green lady's eyes are off and the blonde lady just looks weird, but hey, no-one ever said progress was quick :P (Oh, and the black-and-white kid is out of focus - but I least I can blame that on the fact that it's hard to scan a drawing out of a thick sketch book :D)
That's all for now, folks :o)
In other news, it's so darn hot here - the heat's gone up to 40°C today, and now it won't go lower than 25°C at 11PM (that's 104° and 77°F for you Farenheit people)... How on Earth will I be able to sleep tonight is beyond me :S It's especially weird because not four or five days ago, we got temperatures lower than 10°C in the morning (50°F)... Okay, Mark, not funny, dude - stop messing with the climate! ;o)

Date: 2010-06-26 10:20 pm (UTC)Well, stay cool if you can. I used to keep a small fan on my bed and sleep with it right next to me when we lived at the old house (aka the Furnace Townhouse). Love the drawings :)

Date: 2010-06-27 10:59 am (UTC)It is an anomaly, but an anomaly that's been repeating itself over the past few years. I don't have A/C, and I don't want to - it's as far from ecological as you get, and there are other ways of keeping a house cool. Plus, we can always nip over to the cinema or something :o)
